Tecsun H-501x with hard case

I have not yet purchased an H-501X, but I have bought some other things from Anon-CO. I'm taking this opportunity to tell everyone that Anon-CO is a fantastic company that provides spectacular customer service! Anna's communications and attention to detail are extraordinary, which was very important to me because I live on the other side of the world from Hong Kong. This radio is really a dream radio for every DX amateur!! Bellow is a compare between it & my giant Sony ICF-7600DS: 1) FM reception: no compare could be done between it & my old Sony receiver! My Sony at the ground & Tecsun H-501x in the sky! There are too many interference between FM stations on my Sony, each station seem to be broadcast on a "band of adjacent frequencies" rather than on a single frequency. When using external antenna for FM, all these phenomena will be exacerbated ...... Moreover, I was receiving the official Iraqi station on a 76.9 MHz, but no such thing on H-501x! Bellow 88 MHz voice of certain TV station on Tecsun H-501x ... After searching, I discovered that 76.9 MHz, on my Sony, is an image which (& other phenomena) overcome by triple conversion new technology of Tecsun H-501x ..... 2) MW reception: Tecsun H-501x is better than my Sony in this area, also. Sound is more beautiful & clearer. Tecsun H-501x appear to be more sensitive than my Sony & less affected by noises. But unfortunately noises still distorting signal, making listening for weak MW station useless ..... However, to be wise I have to point to the fact that I live in a vertical building at 4th storey with very noisy environment. From this regard, I do not think that any other radio receiver, of same price, can make better than Tecsun H-501x, by itself, without using a 3rd party noise canceler. 3) SW reception: regarding sensitivity, ALL stations that received by Tecsun H-501x are also received by my old Sony receiver. But, signal/noise ratio is better on Tecsun H-501x than my Sony. Quality of sound on Tecsun H-501x is much better than my Sony. Tecsun H-501x is superior in overcoming the interference between stations on shortwave much better than many digital receivers connected online. I'm using web sites to listen for certain shortwave stations due to high noise in my building .... One of these station I was using LSB mode to make it clearer, by removing interference with other station using this mode. This is the same with devices of more than one DX user, & at different location in middle east, who connecting their receivers online ..... Today same thing happened online for this station, but on my Tecsun H-501x no any need for using LSB or USB with this station. This indicating that selectivity of Tecsun H-501x is much better ..... However, noises is still problematic for certain far stations that broadcast directly to my area without any intermediate augmentation ..... 4) behavior of external passive wire antenna (AN-03L), when connected to dedicated port of external antenna, is different with my Sony from that with Tecsun H-501x as following: indoor setting (wire inside my apartment) there will be marked improvement with my Sony receiver, while not for such level with Tecsun H-501x HOWEVER, SIGNAL IS STILL STRONGER & CLEARER ON Tecsun H-501x. But when wire antenna is set outdoor (through window to outside of my apartment), then the gain will be more with Tecsun than Sony. Taking in mind that signal is stronger & clearer with Tecsun than Sony WITHOUT THIS EXTERNAL ANTENNA, this mean that sensitivity of Tecsun H-501x is much better than that of Sony ICF-7600DS. 5) disadvantage (failure of Tecsun H-501x): the area where Tecsun H-501x really fail is "SYNC" functionality. It is really really a BIG FAILURE. It is not working at all!! I mean by this, it will never improve the listening at all!! It was much better if Tecsun company not added this feature ..... As I informed by Mrs. Anon, this failure is not a result of an error in design of radio, but it is due to a limitation in the DSP IC Chip of radio that were made by Silicon labs in United States of America!! Overall, radio worth wise every dollar I spent for it. I give 5 stars; not 4; in-spite failure of "SYNC" functionality, for 2 causes: A) radio has many other important functionalities that rarely included in many other modern receivers, & B) the very kind, patient & faithful support that I received from Mrs. Anon!! I did not see a manager of online market who behave in such way!! Even B&H (my lovely online shop), who serve you from beginning to end, they will come to a point at which they will reach their limit ..... There was very great difficulties in shipment of this radio to my country, & without the patient & faithful support of Mrs Anon, it was impossible to see this radio in between my hands ..... Moreover, she gave me excellent technical support, & beyond that referred some of my technical issues to Tecsun company directly, then informed me about company replays on them ..... No place here to explain more ..... But I would like to orient any reader who read this review to the fact that this lady is very honest merchant!! Unfortunately, not all sellers you see them online are of same ethics ..... Finally, I would like to give may too thanks to Mrs. Anon, again, & to all those who assisted me to make this great radio in between my hand .....
